Use your own coding CLI
If you have Claude Code, Codex or Cursor’s CLI installed and signed in on your Mac, Plyed can run a chat on it. The work then uses your own account with that tool — your subscription or your API key — and 0 Plyed credits.
Pick it like a model
Section titled “Pick it like a model”Open the model menu in a chat. Under Your CLIs you’ll see every coding CLI Plyed found on your Mac, marked your account. Pick one and send your message: that chat now runs on it. Pick any other model to go back to Plyed’s AI.
The CLI works on your project folder. Its replies, the tools it uses and the files it changes appear in the chat as usual, with diff cards, and you can still restore the project to before a reply.
When the CLI wants to run something that needs your permission, a card asks you in the chat — the same way Plyed’s own agent asks before changing your live site.
Install and sign in
Section titled “Install and sign in”Plyed uses the CLI exactly as you set it up — install it and sign in once in Terminal:
| CLI | Sign in with |
|---|---|
| Claude Code | claude |
| Codex | codex login |
| Cursor | agent login |
If a CLI isn’t signed in, the chat tells you which command to run.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Mac only. Cloud chats can’t use your CLIs; there they run on Plyed’s AI.
- Chat and file editing. In this first version the CLI edits your files and answers in the chat. Plyed’s own tools — the canvas, the built-in browser, publishing — stay with Plyed’s agent.
- The first time you use Claude Code or Codex, Plyed downloads a small connector for it, which takes a few seconds.
