Every plan gets the full editor: visual editing, components and the library, the CMS, GitHub backup, Figma, custom fonts — plans differ only in the usage limits above. Free is permanent, not a trial. Bigger plans also give you more credits per dollar, so upgrading is always the better rate.
On a paid plan you can also run Claude, GPT and Grok models on your own Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI account for 0 credits — see Use your own AI keys. On any plan, Free included, you can run a chat on Claude Code, Codex or Cursor installed on your Mac, with your own account and 0 Plyed credits — see Use your own coding CLI.
Upgrade from the Account panel — checkout opens in your browser, and your plan updates in the app a few seconds after payment.
How AI credits work
Section titled “How AI credits work”Credits measure the real computing cost of your AI runs — a quick tweak with a fast model costs a few credits, a long build with a premium model costs more. The Account panel shows a usage bar: included credits reset each billing period (each calendar month on Free); purchased credits never expire and are used only after the included ones run out.
On the Free plan the AI uses the default model (it’s fast and great for most edits) or Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite, which also powers quick edits on every plan. Paid plans unlock the full model picker — premium models simply use up credits faster, in proportion to what they cost.
Cloud agent runs
Section titled “Cloud agent runs”Cloud runs spend the same credits as everything else — there is no separate meter. Two things cost credits:
- Model usage — billed as the agent works, exactly like AI Chat on your machine, at the same rates per model.
- Workspace time — a cloud workspace costs 1 credit per minute while it’s awake. A paused workspace costs nothing.
When you send a cloud message, Plyed sets aside a 200-credit hold so the turn is always covered. When the turn finishes you’re charged what it actually used, and the rest of the hold comes back. If your balance can’t cover the hold, the message is refused up front — nothing starts, nothing is charged.
A few guardrails keep a run from surprising you:
- Each message has a hard ceiling of 500 credits of model usage. A runaway turn stops there instead of draining your balance.
- Idle workspaces pause on their own. Paused time is free. Sending a new message or opening the workspace’s preview wakes it — waking is what starts the minute meter again.
- Cancelling mid-turn charges only the time and model usage already spent.
- Ending a workspace does a final save of its branch. That cleanup time is on us, not your credits.
Workspace time is charged for every minute the workspace was awake, even if a turn fails partway through.
Cloud agents aren’t available on the Free plan. How many cloud workspaces you can start each month depends on your plan (Starter 20, Pro 100, Ultra 500). See Running Cloud Agents. Follow-up messages in a workspace you already started don’t count toward that limit. Each one is charged as described above.
Once you’ve used cloud runs, the Account panel shows your spend split into AI and Cloud runs, so you can always see which is which.
Voice dictation
Section titled “Voice dictation”Dictating into the chat composer briefly reserves credits for the session before it starts, and settles the real cost when you stop. If you open the mic and close it again right away, nothing is charged — but that only works in the first few seconds after you start. Past that short window, closing the mic without having said anything still settles the reservation, the same as if you’d dictated the whole session, so don’t leave a dictation session open with the mic on if you’re not using it.
Credit packs

Pack credits never expire. Packs work on any plan — including Free — and don’t change your site limit or unlock the model picker.
When you hit a limit
Section titled “When you hit a limit”- Out of AI credits — runs pause until your included grant resets or you buy a pack. Editing and publishing keep working; credits only meter AI.
- Site limit reached — publishing to a new name shows an upgrade prompt. Sites you’ve already published keep working, and you can still republish them. Claimed names count toward the limit even while unpublished.
- Preview branch limit — you can’t add previews beyond your plan’s per-site count (and previews aren’t available on Free). Existing previews can still be republished. See Publishing for how previews work.
There are no surprise overage charges — Plyed never bills you for going over; it just asks before you go further.
